How Participating Roofing Professionals Are Evaluated
RoofQuote One is building a network of roofing professionals serving our local communities. Contractors may be reviewed for factors such as service area, insurance, licensing requirements where applicable, reputation, responsiveness, and ability to perform the requested work.
Participation does not constitute a guarantee of workmanship, and homeowners should review the contractor, proposal, insurance information, warranties, and agreement before hiring.
What we look at
Factors We Review
These are the questions we ask a roofing company before it starts receiving homeowner requests.
Service area
Whether the company actually works in the community the request came from, rather than driving in from two counties away.
Insurance
Whether the company carries general liability coverage, and workers' compensation coverage where it applies.
Licensing and registration
Illinois roofing contractors are generally required to hold a state roofing license, and some municipalities require local registration. We ask about this.
Ability to perform the work
Whether the company does the type of work requested — repair, replacement, low-slope, storm work — and has capacity to respond.
We also consider reputation and responsiveness, including how a company handles homeowner follow-up. We do not claim that every contractor meets every criterion, and we do not publish badges, awards or accreditations we have not earned.
Before you hire
What Homeowners Should Verify Themselves
Whoever you hire, and however you found them, these six things protect you.
- Ask for the company's Illinois roofing license number and confirm it.
- Ask for a current certificate of general liability insurance, and workers' compensation where applicable.
- Get the full scope of work in writing before any work starts.
- Read the workmanship warranty and the manufacturer warranty terms.
- Understand the payment schedule and how unexpected decking replacement is priced.
- Confirm who pulls the permit if one is required by your municipality.
